Confidentiality and Privacy
The Portal is a partnership between three local specialist agencies, led by RISE. It is jointly provided by:
|RISE: a national award winning domestic abuse charity providing sanctuary and support in Sussex since 1994.|
|CGL: providing information, advocacy and practical and emotional support to women, men and children living with domestic abuse and violence in the East Sussex area.|
|Survivors’ Network: offering a range of professional, relevant, services to survivors of any gender who have experienced any form of sexual violence.|
We collect personal information so that we can offer you the most appropriate support, and so we can provide reports to our funders.
Information is stored securely and only available to The Portal workers.
You don’t have to answer any questions or engage with The Portal if you don’t wish to. If there are questions you don’t want to answer please let us know and we can discuss this.
We share your personal information with other agencies (police, social services, ambulance) when we think you or others are not safe, or where we are legally obliged to. For example:
- If you tell us about weapons
- Where a child or adult is in danger
- Where there is a threat of suicide or terrorism
We will try to ask your permission and keep you informed, unless it is unsafe or the law requires us to share this information.
If we receive a referral from another organisation it will contain some personal information about you. We will try to check this is correct and will ask you to help keep it up to date.
You can ask to see your personal information. We will let you know what information we hold and, in line with the Data Protection Act, arrange for you to see this within 40 days from your written request.
We share your anonymised data with Women’s Aid and funders in order to support monitoring and research. You cannot be identified from this data. If you do not wish for your data to be shared, please let us know.
